Paratransit drivers are the original audience for Taxi-Flow: it was built by a Quebec paratransit driver, for days when nothing is entirely predictable.
In paratransit, routes are imposed: they arrive the evening before, sometimes late, and they can change. The driver moves from address to address, waits between two routes in the area of the next one, and deals with days that vary a lot from one week to the next. In that context, paperwork is often the first thing pushed to the evening, then to the end of the month, then never done.
Taxi-Flow lightens what can be lightened: entry and inspection rounds work offline, on the road, without waiting for a network. Sync happens automatically when the connection returns.
When income varies with the routes, weeks do not look alike and the yearly picture is easily lost. Taxi-Flow records income by category (regular trip, medical trip, airport trip, tip, other income) and expenses by category, with GST (TPS) at 5% and QST (TVQ) at 9.975% calculated automatically on expenses. Reports by period, day, month, 3 months and year, show income, expenses and the net balance, and export as a structured Excel file and a PDF for the accountant. Recurring expenses can be created automatically, so the same costs do not have to be entered again every month.
An adapted vehicle needs more than an ordinary inspection: on top of the usual points, the additional equipment specific to the adapted vehicle has to be checked, such as boarding and securement equipment. The Taxi-Flow round has about 20 inspection points before departure. Each defect is classed as minor, to be repaired within 48 hours, or major, in which case the vehicle must not be driven. History is kept with a calendar and can be exported as a PDF.
As a reference point, the regulation respecting taxi transport services sets out, in its section 65, requirements specific to adapted vehicles, in addition to section 33, which frames the general round. Taxi-Flow cites this framework carefully: the app helps record the round, with no promise of guaranteed compliance. To go further, see the complete guide to the vehicle safety inspection round and the detail of all of Taxi-Flow's features.
Taxi permit, SAAQ documents, insurance, vehicle certification: Taxi-Flow Driver Documents keeps them scanned in the phone, accessible at any time. Automatic OCR reading reads documents and invoices, expenses can be created from a scan, and alerts flag upcoming expiries. If a collision happens, the step by step guided report, with photos, a sketch, signatures and an official PDF, avoids oversights in the stress of the moment: see the guide to the joint accident report in Quebec.
